
President Nikola Dobroslavić signed in Brussels with the President of Veneto Region Luca Zaia Memorandum of Understanding between the Veneto region and Dubrovnik Neretva region.
Veneto Region, with the capital city of Venice, located in the northern part of Italy has about 4.8 million inhabitants. The agreement relates to cooperation in the fields of economy, tourism, agriculture, science and technology, strengthening the capacity of public administration, health and the promotion of natural and cultural heritage.
Dubrovnik Neretva and Veneto region share a similar history, with a rich cultural heritage and a common interest in the future development. The regions have already cooperated through various programs of territorial and cross-border cooperation of the European Union, and this agreement is an indication of more intensive future cooperation.
Veneto Region is in charge of managing the bilateral program of the European Union for cross-border cooperation Italy - Croatia, financed by European funds with budget more than 200 million euros. Dubrovnik Neretva region, as well as all the Adriatic regions, expected realization of numerous projects through this program.
