
The Dubrovnik-Neretva County office in Brussels, Matica hrvatska, the Croatian Tourist Board, The Croatian Chamber of Commerce and the Croatian Embassy in the Kingdom of Belgium, organized on 23rd November 2015. a lecture "The political culture of the Dubrovnik Republic from 14.- 19th century", which was held by dr. Lovro Kunčević.
On this occasion Dr. Kunčević stressed the important political role of the Dubrovnik Republic in the movements of the 14th and 19th centuries, ie. from the early medieval origins, through the territorial, economic and social development to the five-hundred political autonomy and the whole development of the Dubrovnik Republic.
The lecture was attended by representatives of the European Commission, the Permanent represenation of Croatia to the EU, the Croatian Embassy in the Kingdom of Belgium, Croatian counties and Croats who live and work in Belgium.
Dr. Kunčević is famous young research associate at the Institute for Historical Sciences in Dubrovnik. He earned his doctorate at the Central European University in Budapest, and studied at University College London and the Universita Ca'Foscari di Venezia. He is the author of the monograph The myth of Dubrovnik: discourses on the identity of a Renaissance city and a series of articles devoted to the history of Dubrovnik institutions, ideology and diplomacy.
