The Bioeconomy Investment Summit was held in Brussels on 10 and 11th November 2015. This high-level event was hosted by the Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science, Carlos Moedas, to focus on investment opportunities in the Bioeconomy.
The objective of the two-day Summit was to identify possible ways to mobilize private and public investment for the Bioeconomy, by notably ensuring supportive framework conditions including policy and regulatory environments.
The event brought together high-level representatives from the European institutions, industry, primary producers, civil society and the scientific community; representatives from regional public investment banks, and private equity firms investing in the bioeconomy; members of the European Parliament; representatives of producers in the agricultural, forestry and marine sectors.
The Bioeconomy holds enormous potential for growth and job creation and it will play a major role in the creation of Europe's new smart and resource-efficient economy.
